This painting from my 2015-2016 “Colors of Chinatown” series celebrating Oakland’s Chinatown was awarded 2nd Place in the group art show at the Oakland Chamber of Commerce, on display now through Dec. 8.

    I’m pleased you got an award. You usually appreciate a critique, so here we go. The subject matter seems divided in half. Why not do it over and omit the cars? Also, the overhead at the shop is too dark. Pulls the viewer up and out. Could you lighten it? Or am I being too picky.
