Taking the long way home

“Breakfast at Marti’s” is on the wall at Marti’s Place in Alameda, after a winding path. I painted “Marti’s” about 5 years ago, and an elderly couple purchased it at my exhibition in Oakland. At that time, they shared with me their fond memories of this friendly hometown café. Just last weekend, I was in Marti’s and the café owner told me that the man who had purchased the painting passed away, and his son called her to see if she wanted it. She said “Yes,” and it’s now on the café wall (you can see it to the right of the big wooden fork). Welcome home!
